METROPOLITAN COLLEGE AND ITS STAFF

Metropolitan College was established in 1993 by Margaret Gaertig-Barr under the name of Universal English College with its premises in Plac Trzech Krzyży. That was sixteen years ago. Since then, the school has gone through several stages and transformations. For a few years it was associated with the Bell Educational Trust, also acting as the first and only CELTA centre in Warsaw. In 2000 we parted our ways, which proved to be a fortunate step forward. Since then the school has grown in strength and size. In 2001 we moved the school headquarters to our modern offices in Aleje Niepodległości. Our new premises are first class with large and bright classrooms, a student club, library, and Internet facilities. In reflection of the school’s energy and forward thinking, we have changed the school name to Metropolitan College.

We aim high. The quality of our teaching is of paramount importance to the school ethos. That is why in 1999 after rigorous inspection we became a member of PASE-the Polish Association for Standards in English. PASE is also an acting member of EAQUALS-the European Association for Quality Language Services. In spring 2002, 2005 and 2008 we were re-inspected and passed with flying colours.

You can become part of a young, talented, hard-working and ambitious team at Metropolitan College.  We believe that it is only through team effort and spirit that we can achieve our aim-to provide students with the highest level of professionalism in teaching English.

COURSES RUN BY METROPOLITAN COLLEGE

We conduct courses for both in-school and in-company students.

In-school courses are run on the school’s premises on Al. Niepodległości.

In–company courses are mostly run at the clients' headquarters.

In-school students are grouped according to their age and level of proficiency. We teach all age groups (juniors, seniors, adults) and levels (from absolute beginners to proficiency).

Teachers do not have to teach all age groups, but having proper blocks in school means teaching kids, teenagers and adults.

In companies we do a variety of courses: general English, Business English, specialised courses such as presentations, business correspondence, regular and crash courses.

In-company students are grouped according to their language needs and language competence. The size of groups ranges from 1 to 10; one-to-one classes constitute a large part of our in-company activities.

In-company classes take place either in the morning or in the afternoon.
